Hi - as your probably aware, since project drive came in our cars only had the passenger side cupholder - in the UK, the drivers-side one is very rare and expensive to source (£40+ / €50+), however the passenger side one is in every car so is £10 / €12 from a breaker at most.
Now if we have an abundance of the left-hand-side ones, and you have many of the right-hand-side ons, why don't we simply buy the passenger ones and swap? Cheaper way to get the drivers side one for both parties :)
I'm personally on the lookout for an MG ZT Rhodium driver side cup-holder, which will be the passenger side one from a LHD ZT. Does anyone know where I can acquire one from? I've tried looking for breakers, but alas my German isn't good enough to find them!

Hi,
missing cupholders on the passenger sides have nothing to do with project drive. They were everytime anfabric option you could order when buying your car.
These cupholders are also very rare here for ZT's in rhodium grey.
I've hardly seen them on fleebay. I don't think that there are people here that want to swap because they then will miss their passenger side ones... Have you already tried Rimmer Bros or a search on thepart.com?
However you will need the part number for searching these sources.

| Hi I didn't mean from the owners car - rather from a breakers yard etc (not sure what you'd call them in Germany).
When a car is broken for parts, things like the cupholder go for £5, if that over here... but I know in an LHD country it would be worth a lot more. Similarly, if you saw a LHD ZT being broken, the cupholder would be worth a lot. |

Hi
I know what you mean. But in fact Germany isn't a real market for Rover and MG. These cars are very rare here and I have never found one at a scrappy.
In UK often cars were sold in spares but here always as a complete car.
If you have a look to the german www for breakers and Rover or MG parts you hardly will find interesting items. So the most of our members try to find spares in UK but not in Germany.
I will ask my local workshop because it may be that there is a damaged ZT.
Regards

Gert | I knew the market was small, but I still assumed there would be "some".
As far as i'm aware, it doesn't have to be from a ZT as you can re-use the existing blank.
What this means is that if anyone has a "passenger" side LHD one from a 75 or ZT, I will happily send you a drivers side LHD in exchange. |
